CNN political correspondent April Ryan, who has built a reputation on being highly combative and rude toward Trump administration officials, arrogantly claimed that White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders should pay for her to have bodyguards.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan bizarrely claimed that Sanders should for pay her to have a bodyguard for “stirring up” aggression against the media.
“I’ve had some people wait for me outside the White House,” Ryan said. “There is a concern now. I mean, I’ve had death threats, I’ve had craziness, so I have a real concern.”
“Do I have a bodyguard?” Ryan said. “Yes, I do. Am I paying for it? Yes, I am. And, I think [Sanders] should have to pay for it, especially if she’s stirring it up with her boss.”
“I did not sign up for this. I was just doing a job,” Ryan added.
Ryan’s self-loathing and Jim Acosta-like comments were in response to Sanders revealing last month that she became the first press secretary in U.S. history to receive a Secret Service detail to protect her in public.
Rather than offer a shred of sympathy for Sanders and why she was forced to get a security detail, Ryan went on to brag about how important she thinks she is and how Sanders should be paying for her to get bodyguards.
“If I don’t tell the story, you won’t get it. So, I’m putting it out there, because people see one side of it. I’m giving you the whole thing. The way they’ve treated me for asking questions that are fair and logical. They’re still very angry at me for asking the question, ‘Mr. President, are you a racist?’ And that’s why I’m on a list.”
“She should be ashamed of herself for going out there, saying some of the things that she’s said. She tries to insult my intelligence. And not just my intelligence, the world’s intelligence. … They always have to go back and press-splain, man-splain the president after he says something.”
Ryan’s comments won’t surprise many, as she has built a reputation for being rude and confrontational with Sanders just about every chance she gets.
When she’s not literally shouting questions so loudly and persistently over her colleagues during the press briefing, she’s actually making threats toward Sanders.
Earlier this year, the CNN analyst tweeted and spoke about a physical altercation with Sanders after a tense back-and-forth during the press briefing. Ryan “joked” about taking off earrings and putting on Vaseline — which implies a physical altercation.
Prior to that, she shared an article on Twitter implying that Trump’s administration is involved in a child sex-trafficking ring.
Ryan is nothing more than an Acosta-prototype who will do and say anything for attention. It takes a special kind of person to attack Sanders for having a security detail and then demand that the press security pay for her to have one in return.
Sadly, these are typical comments from CNN talking heads.
